Comments (11)Hi Kerry, With this scheme, it’s all about the small details. Don’t worry, there’s a few simple changes you can make that will instantly leave your lounge feeling much more country rustic. I love your tartan curtains, they’re a really nice addition to this scheme. However, my first suggestion would be to swap your existing curtain pole in favour of a wooden alternative. Opt for a natural, shade that matches your existing furniture with simple finials for a classic look. Similarly, I'd suggested replacing your modern DVD storage units with something more sympathetic to the rustic feel you're hoping for. I love these Coby baskets from Habitat which will not only offer a much more 'country' feel to the space but will also help to tie in the warm tones from your curtains and black sofa tones. http://www.habitat.co.uk/coby Also this Hurst rug, also from Habitat. With its natural materials, this will help to enforce your rustic scheme; again using black materials to tie in the darker furniture in your room. http://www.habitat.co.uk/hurst Alternatively , if your looking for something that feels a little softer underfoot, this woven Textura Rug offers similar effect:http://www.argos.co.uk Now for the best bit; the accessories! For a truly rustic feel, I would recommend opting for mix and match cushions rather than matching them to your existing curtains. Here's just a few of my favorites: http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-croft-collection http://www.johnlewis.com/voyage-wallace-cushion http://www.johnlewis.com/g-plan-vintage-scatter-cushion http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-knitted-waves-throw For your walls, I think a calm, neutral palette will look great in your space and help to make your living room feel cosy and relaxed. For the ultimate cosy space, opt for Dulux Potters Clay 3 on all of your walls. Alternatively, if this feels too dark, pair it with Dulux Potters Clay 4 for a cohesive look. I recommend getting tester pots before committing to a new colour to make sure you are 100% happy with the look and finish. Comments (4)Hi. You've posted on uk houzz so it's hard to help with shopping suggestions. Sounds a lovely place to live btw! Given the issues with wet clothes I would go for an outdoor fabric so something like the one on the attached link. If you don't want to buy an outdoor sofa you may be able to get one covered in a similar fabric http://www.brookleisure.co.uk/maze-divano-devane-outdoor-fabric-garden-corner-sofa-set...See MoreRustic glam
Comments (7)The table looks good there and is a lovely table! I'd try living with the curtains for a few months and then see how you feel. I'd move the hexagon table to the other side of the sofa and rather than bling go for an antler table lamp or similar on that table. If you move the end sofa away from the wall slightly you should be able to go for a swing arm or arc lamp. A swing arm might be good to tie in the shade with the table lamp. I'd add the sheepskin throw on that end sofa instead. You can buy sisal, jute etc plant holders which may work in the rustic a little more if you're committed to that look as I think the room looks much more glam ATM...See More- 7 years ago
