Worktop Options
Hi,
We're currently trying to make about a million and one decisions for our kitchen extension and are a bit stuck on worktops. We are going for units in the below colour and with white walls, an aged copper splashback and a rustic engineered wood floor.
We love the look of Carrara marble and whilst I don't mind the fact that it becomes 'characterful' due to etching and any marks I think as a whole it might be a bit too stressful, certainly when other people, not naming names (cough* mother in law cough*), probably won't treat it with the care and respect it needs. With that in mind we've been looking at quartz alternatives and have been considering the following options;
Caeserstone - Frosty Carrina/London Grey
Silestone - Lagoon/Snowy Ibiza/Ariel
Samples just haven't been enough to make a decision and internet images seem to vary wildly. Does anyone have any views on which product is most likely to replicate (honed) carrara marble or indeed are you aware of other products? We've found some other quartz worktops that look great but most we've found only seem to be in a polished finish.
Any pictures and advice would be very much appreciated.

Comments (2)any quartz worktop is usually not considered as a more expensive than granite. If you want cheaper option and don't mind to stick with quartz, go for a different manufacturer. There is Unistone, Cimstone, Technistone, Ceaserstone... Comments (5)I agree it would depend on the kitchen and other requirements, what 'feel' of the place needs to be achieved. Personally I quite like a little bit of texture in the colour, with subtle inclusions not entirely plain, 'Medium Grey' looks lovely I think....See MoreKitchen design advice - wall colour and worktops!
Comments (8)Look at Earthstone as a quartz alternative. It’s a 6mm solid surface wrapped around a chipboard core, so it has most of the advantages of a solid/quartz surface at a fraction of the price. It can be shaped and sanded, left matte (which is what I did) or polished to a high gloss. I’m really, really impressed with mine—cost around £1300 for two long lengths plus breakfast bar AND delivery to Northern Ireland. 4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoI had the same quest myself and I'm afraid to say that I failed to find one that had that authentic feel I was looking for.
The closest I got to it was a Quartz called Paragon by Aurea Stone. It had a gorgeous subtle vein, nothing like carrara but it had more depth, however it was quite expensive.
In the end I went with something totally different, a Silestone Quartz called Desert Silver. It has subtle white veining, good depth and a good amount of movement to it.Hope you find something, your kitchen scheme sounds lovely.
