HELP - What colour rug
We have just taken delete very of a new sofa and chair from next. We also have a Chesterfield sofa which has s currently being reupholstered in a mid grey linen. Our laminate flooring is mid oak and new curtains are silver. Any ideas for a rug would be much appreciated. Room is south facing so light and bright even on the dullest day. Sofa and chair pics also showing close up of materials.

4 years agoAre you wanting to keep the colours muted and soft like the chairs, or do you want to introduce a bit of colour? I personally would have a plainish rug, and then add soft pastel shades, such as pale yellow, blue, pink or green, in the cushions to create a cosy country look. Next have some lovely rugs (look online) but here’s a few ideas:

Comments (3)I think anything in the warm neutrals/greys/pinks would work nicely here. Have suggested some options from a company from Benuta since they have a sale on at the moment and are generally well priced anyway! Comments (31)I think you feel it looks too solid is because you haven’t followed through with the rest of the room, for example cushions to tie in with it. Further up these comments minnie101 has suggested some black patterned cushions which i think would lift the scheme, however if you really don’t like it then follow your heart and return it. Why keep something you don’t like? Then choose a colour-way that you prefer, such as the blue you suggested. A blue coastal theme would tie in nicely with the neutral theme you have at the moment. By the way, i got a Turkish rug from Olney Carpets in Bucks, and they let us take it home for a week to see if we liked it before buying! True service, and yes we did buy it! 4 years agoMy neighbour has two Borders, such cuties! I love navy, although it’s a dark shade, it’s also very soothing and would go beautifully with ochre. Seems like you know what you like which is good. I recently placed an old sofa in my kitchen and with the help of the Houzz community I was able to get it to go with a navy wall which was already there. Love navy!
