Depending on how much work you wanted to do and how much you've got in your budget there are lots of options available to you. It looks like you've got a great ceiling height so you've got lots of wall space to play about with. I'd pick a feature wallpaper with some gold in it and probably a pale, cream coloured background. This will work with your flooring and with the sofas you brought from your previous property and it'll keep the room bright. Because you've got so much wall space you could also create a gorgeous gallery wall. It doesn't have to be expensive if you use postcards, personal photos and posters etc. If you go for all black and white pictures you can play around with different styles and colours of frames but if you have some colourful, mixed images I'd keep to black or white frames and have some consistency that way. These are just guidelines for quite a curated look but if your tastes are a little more eclectic then go wild! If you've got room in your budget you could also add more interest and textures through a large floor rug, cushions, and curtains. Choose shades that complement or clash with your chosen wallpaper. I think I now have my heart set on the Hague blue (I was looking at ‘midnight blue’ ideas before my post and this colour I just love so thanks for this idea!). I also definitely agree I need a new bath panel so have been looking at the marine ply online and think it’s a great idea to paint this the Hague blue too. I like the idea of a small shower caddy for our main shower products and make room in our current storage unit for other items. I have also thought storing the bath toys in the children’s room until needed and then store away again. Which colour towels and bath mat should I get to match this idea? Grey? Also will replace with some new pictures to hang if anyone has any good recommendations?

What do you think of this? I've used Ikea Besta units under the TV for toy storage, some open shelving for displaying children's artwork. A sofa bed and a wardrobe. Wall lights above the sofa bed, small tables that can be easily moved out of the way and a bouple of footstools/pouffes to put your feet up when watching TV or for extra seating...

Popular at the moment are the strips of floor to ceiling wood as a panel/headboard. sometimes the wall behind painted a dark colour and the sides of the wood stained darker to increase the shade effect…..looks natural and goes well with plants….and the terracotta you have in mind painted on the rest of the wall.…a paler chalky version of the round cushion in your last photo? i was wondering if you could do something with the bank of doors opposite the bed to reflect what you do behind the bed, perhaps painting the walls and door a similar shade and perhaps covering some doors in mirror?
