Can you not just bolt fence posts in to your concrete / decking and then put up a fancy fence such as a shutter fence. You have no need to attach anything to the neighbour's garage, you've got a solid base to work from. You can grow or place anything you like up against it then as it's yours not theirs. Alternatively ( afixed in the same manner ) a 'green wall', you buy them in panelsAs you see, they are fairly free standing. We have just had to do the same. Our neighbours are literally a law unto themselves and quite frankly not the full ticket. ( seriously, they're not right in the head ) They come from a town environment and have never lived in the country. They complain about the horse muck in the lane, saying it spoils their shoes ( well don't go for a walk in the countryside in your best leather brogues, maybe buy a pair of wellies?? ) Also, they don't like the birds sitting on their fence on the way to our feeders as the bird poop gets on their patio! So, they put up pigeon spikes on their fence, which is only 1.7m high, almost eye level for us ( we're all tall ). They honestly could not see that sticking spikes in to someone else's garden might be slightly objectionable. Anyway, there is not speaking to them, it's just not worth it! We put up our posts inside the boundary straight in to the patio and put up trellis to the max height of 2m, problem solved. They can't touch our fence as it's inside the boundary, plus it has a beautiful curve to it, so much nicer than what was there before. The pigeons love it! ( Tee Hee ) We used this We stained it dark to match the rest of our fencing ( which also annoyed them as they don't like the smell of creosote! ) Win win. Against a painted wall, i think it would really effective and the dark wood ( or you could paint it ) will show up your lovely plants. Just use 'post holders' to erect

Hi Sue. The pale pink doesn't seem to be lightening up the room ATM so I wonder if you've considered going dark? The pictures below are farrow and ball Hague blue which would look great against the screen and the floor. You could also add a large potted plant and maybe consider wallpapering the back of the shelves in a William Morris paper as per the link? This could also work for the boiler cupboard but would try just painting it first. Okay being a sunny spot means you can grow a lot more. Vigorous climbers that are beautiful are Clematis Montana (my previous first pic) and Rambler Roses, Honeysuckle, Jasmine (Jasminum officinale) and Pyracantha. Climbing Roses and other forms of Clematis are less vigorous but great fillers. All will need tying in and training but no real hardship. You can read up about sun loving climbers on the RHS website. Many of these plants have gorgeous scents as well, especially the Honeysuckle and Jasmine. Wisteria is a stunning winding plant that needs to be thoroughly tied in, but it is gorgeous. I have a similar cupboard behind the sofa, but the back of my sofa is quite high so luckily it’s not too visible. I think the bareness of the wall makes the cupboard stand out, so I think a nice big piece of art spanning the wall (not the cupboard) will make a huge difference. I’m also thinking painting that wall and cupboard a dark colour such as dark grey, navy or a deep blue-green. Examples below. That will really make the art stand out. I would also change the knob to blend with the new wall colour so a matt finish, not shiny.
