Cheaper lamp alternative

Really like this, lamp but with other things still to purchase the price tag seems a little high for a dressing table lamp. Any suggestions where I might get something similar for a lower price?

Look what I found! Bargain!! Arrived yesterday and a much better height (was about to go with my first choice but realised it was a little too tall for what I wanted). I'm going to spray paint the bottom and although I've seen you can spray glass for a milk glass effect, I'm going to see how I like the smoke glass first! Thanks for all your help. Your alternative suggestions inspired me to keep looking!

Heck that's very expensive. Look at the Hafele website. They have lots of different ones. I'd also look on eBay as they have some good designs and deals on there.

alternatives to Farrow and Ball

I would go Little Green or Benjamin Moore which are technically much better paints than Farrow and Ball. You've only just got to mark Farrow and Ball estate emulsion and you're stuffed. It won't wash off. The big problem I have with Farrow and Ball is the amount of coats it needs and I'm fed up of using it. Every job I'm on there's always some form of issue with it. Whether it needs the extra coats (and yes I've used their undercoat) or you need a bit more and have to buy another 2.5L tin instead of a 1 litre (they don't do 1 litre tins). The customer marks it before you're finished, the paint does something to ruin your brushes, the list goes on. It was either last year or the year before I was told Farrow and Ball spent £12,000,000 on their marketing alone. That's where the cost of the paint is going, not on improving the quality of the product.

Hi Jules. I had a look yesterday but the only one I found similar was x times the price! If this is a make up light I would just think about how much light it emits ( and bulb type) plus the height of the lamp (think it's meant to be eye level?!). Not very helpful I know!

Same as minnie. Had a look when you first put up the post. Alternatives were all more expensive!

You could DIY one if you're handy. Buy a cheap globe light then you could make the cone out of concrete using a straw to leave a tube through the middle, sand it down and spray it with metal paint, then finally feed the cable through the cone and glue the globe to the top.

Something like those lamps, on Made.com, perhaps? I have the marble oneMind, there is a delivery charge. The last (silver) one is from the antique shop in Kingston, but of course the shops are closed now.

Many thanks for your replies. I did think perhaps some of the alternatives might be more pricy and the one from Very does look a bit naff. Think I might be better paying the extra.

To be honest Minnie it's not really as a make
up light as I'll have good overhead lighting - and to be fair I'm at an age now that a little more shadow is probably preferable and kinder 🤦‍♀️

arc- I did wonder about attempting a DIY concrete job and the fact that you've suggested it makes me think it's worth a try.

NM London, thanks for those, suggestions. I hadn't seen that marble one on Made and I really like it. I'm going to add it to my mood board and 'live with it' for a bit, like I have the other one. Maybe until the actual shops open again and I make my mind up 😂

Thanks Sonia, that's a good, idea, especially seeing it's not essential. I'm just enjoying picking items for what will be a dressing room for me.

As it turns out it's a lot less work than actually getting off my behind and starting the decorating. Only had the wallpaper for about a year!

Thanks Betty. Not keen on the H&M one but I do like the Made one. Can't help seeing it as a person bowing their head though 😂 maybe just the angle in this photo.
