Kitchen colour advice

I have a relatively spacious kitchen with a high ceiling. Walls are white, cabinets are cream, worktop and shelves are wood (oak sort of shade), floor is maple wood effect laminate. Oh and the oven is a maroon kind of shade. I inherited this from previous owner and my only change has been repainting walls from blue to white and adding wall shelves. I don‘t love the kitchen but don’t have budget to make big changes. I’ve been thinking about painting the walls and cabinets. Walls to setting plaster and cabinets to Dimity. Is it going to be “too warm“? Should I leave the walls white? Anything more interesting just seems like it will clash with the horrid maroon oven (I’ve even considered getting replacement doors in black).

I think your kitchen is lovely. The cabinets are a nice neutral shade and I even like the stove! I particularly like the shelving. If you want to add a bit more drama how about painting the walls a mid grey? It would also go nicely with the stove. Or even an olive green. Here’s some idea - first pic is Dulux Chic Shadow and second is Overtly Olive.

Thanks for all your comments! I am adding a few more photos to show the whole space we have to work with. It's a large area, approx 100square metres. The opposite end to the kitchen will have large dining table near the bifolds and the other side will be sofa/tv area. We're happy to keep the rest white and brighten it up with pictures and stuff, I just think a colour behind the units would look better than white. We've looked at Farrow&Balls Elephants breath and Green Blue since I've last been on here. Bearing in mind what we choose may dictate furniture choices for the other end.

Hi Carolina, Thanks for weighing in. I'm not that sold on turquoise ( I've scraped something similar off most of the skirtings and window frames in the house- see remnant on kitchen window) but I do like the blue glass cabinet. Possibly not for this room ( the interior colour is where I want the focus ) but for my bathroom renovation which is happening in a couple of months. And I'd forgotten about the splashback! It's weird how stuff becomes invisible when you live with it. I'll think about how I can tie that in with the dining table, chairs and possibly window frame. Though keeping it natural is a frontrunner at the moment.

HI, If your not keen on Dark colours then how about doing the panelling in a light grey which compliments your dining furniture and a Peachy Pink (don't be put off it looks fab with a grey colour). Thank you colourhappy My aim in to update the kitchen really but obviously don’t want to make a mistake by choosing the wrong colour for cabinets. I don’t want to make the worktop look more yellow/brown. I was convinced the navy would work with cream? I painted some samples of hague blue which I like for the island but shadow white is too pale and made the work top look brown. I am now considering pavilion grey for cabinets and Hague blue for the island. I never considered the floor colour and have attached a close up together with a picture of the tiles. I’ve also pictured my samples of Hague blue and shadow white. My kitchen is very dark most of the time. Thank you

Thanks @Sonia I think with the cabinets and stove, it’s probably just because I didn’t choose it so I’m overly critical. Thanks for the ideas, I’ll definitely have a look at those colours!
