Kitchen paint colour advice

We are slowly having a new kitchen installed and I had a "vision" of the paint colour I would like on the walls at each end of the room. I imagined a deep dark plum colour but the purple we have ended up with seems awful to me (seen in 1st photo before all units fitted). Units are Fairford Sage from Howdens and we have an off white paint colour on the side walls. I'm struggling to find a paint to match my vision! Any suggestions welcome!!!The last photo is the dresser that we have that will be at the other end of the room, against the other wall we want to paint (currently magnolia aaaaargh).

These are all from the same Hue Family as the colour you now have on the wall, (top), but are greyed and so more muted.

It’s possible to send to Benjamin Moore for paint chips by email or phone. I use the Wilmslow Showroom.

I would go with more of a bluey green such as Inchyra Blue, or navy such as Hague Blue (a popular navy because its fab!), or even Green Smoke, all by Farrow & Ball. Here’s some examples of them in this order Inchyra Blue, Hague Blue and Green Smoke.

The kitchen is finished now. This is when it was nearly finished but I don't have a final picture to hand. We went with cream tiles, a copy of Laura Ashley artisan tiles instead of metro tiles and a matching grout. The metro tiles in cream just didn't look quite right. I realised the white wouldn't work! And I went with Dulux polished pebble on the walls as it still came out very light and just walnut looked just like a dirty white when we put testers up. Went with patterned tiles too and painted the dresser green not red.

You could use a Roman blind, fixed right at the top so that when part down it could cover the wall above the window. Or if you want curtains and the depth of the reveal is about half the width of the window you could use hinged poles which swing against the wall during the day then back over the window during the night. You should be able to find some on the Jim Lawrence website.

Hi all, Thank you very much for being honest and so helpful. I have quotes from a professional kitchen painter who has requested for the cabinets to first be primed off site, so I contacted someone in a business park, who do all sorts of things on wood, asking them if they would spray prime it. Now I have also got a quote for 'only spray priming' and also 'spray paint to finish'. the spray painting by this business park type of place is nearly half the price of the hand painter, not to forget for him I also need to add cost of spray priming. So it boils down to this: spray paint or hand paint? can someone show me pictures or a link to a spray painted and a hand painted kitchen? Man about the house, I like your spray painted look, is that the finish I can expect from the spray painters? Thanks!

I also think a simple off white would look very elegant too.

In theory the sage and plum should work really well but I agree it's making your lovely kitchen look rather drab. A quick search on Pinterest shows the majority of sage kitchens looking their most fabulous with whites, like Sonia suggests, (brilliant or off white) or cream tones.
