Free floor planning software

Hi all,

Any suggestions for free floor planning software. I would like to create an outline of floor plans with measurements and windows/ furniture/kitchen etc. This would help me visualise my ideas.

Pen and paper? That's how I've done mine. Doesn't involve learning new software.

Hi B KG,

Home by Me is quite user friendly and has a range of furniture options (including customisable furniture). I only use it on the laptop, not sure how well it works on tablets/phones. You can do 3D or just floorplan without furniture showing.

Try http://www.sketchup.com/ - it's incredibly simple to use and there's a community library of common furniture from IKEA et al. All for free!

For simplicirty and ease of use I would recommend Zplan which I believe offer a free 30 day trial but are only £15.00 per month cancel anytime. Good Luck

Room Arranger works on the iPad (very well too) and the desktop. You can play with it for free, but if you want to save you designs to a file as opposed to screenshotting them, you need to pay. I’ve used it for my kitchen, my parents’ kitchen, my bedroom, and for the bathroom. I’ve found it reliable and the 3D function really allowed to to get an idea of the real world space—that allowed me to see, for example, that I had more space in the kitchen than it seemed based on 2D.

Homestyler, they ask for email address ( but they don't verify it), comes with a few furniture sets for scale. Have fun.

I used magicplan, it’s free to use with some parts ‘locked’ unless you pay but I only needed the basic bits. Downloaded from the App Store
