It would help to know height of seat of sectional. And inside edge lengths on both sides of sectional. Then I can size it. Also post size of current ottoman. What budget do you want to stay within? Are you replacing sectional anytime soon?

Height of sectional from floor to seat top is 19”. Not sure if i side edge lengths are correct but measuring left side edge to center of middle section is 82” - right shorter side is 61”.

Ok. You can use 48” wide x 24” Deep piece and watch height. Need to be roughly an inch or two above seat height. I wouldn’t recommend round here because only middle seat could reach it. Should sit about 15-18” from cushion edge. This type would work well and be versatile.

I feel the above may be a tad too casual for my likings. Could the original one I posted work as far as dimensions? Looks like it could. I wish the legs were a tad darker as well.

I like the square shape more than rectangular. Would rather a large round but this seems to work. Color suggestions? I’m leaning towards the light natural color. Thoughts?

As long as that size 35 x 35 allows for 3’ walkway thru the room it’s ok. People tend to sit on ends of sectional or sofas so they have arm. This size puts them too far from ottoman for feet or to reach a tray. A print will limit choices for pillows or sofa fabrics but sounds like you just want to replace what you have?

You have a large dark sectional that visually fills the space...I would go with a glass topped round table.

Hi! Colleen. Here’s things I consider for ottoman. Will I use it as foot rest? Or place to see a drink or book on? If a drink, can my client comfortably reach it from sofa or seating? Is the height about same as seating cushion height? Will it add to overall decor aims? Cut paper the size of table and place it where you can assess these questions.

Thank you FLO! I am looking for all the above: comfort, ease of placing drinks, etc. Now thinking it through the dimensions are 22in which is not going to work for me. I need at least 36 inches. I understand. Well, you can go beige on beige - but it can be good to.have some kind of contrast between sofa and ottoman. Plus, with a light beige type color, if you're using it a lot for people to rest their feet, it might not be an optimum color choice. Although, it depends on how careful folks are with their stocking feet. :) It also depends on the fabrication.

I keep gravitating to the rattan coffee table and found one with the dimensions I need. Thoughts?

We do use the ottoman more casually as a foot rest so this most likely will not work, but I think the look would be perfect with my room. Thoughts are I need something light in color in an effort to pull away from the browns in this room already. This is my struggle.

Nothing will set flat and not wobble on rattan or other natural fibers. Bulb shape puts flat surface further away from arms reach. Black would be last choice. Did any I posted appeal?

Understood! I would add a glass top which again not good with feet up. Black? I’m not looking at black in color. Info like the first 4 choices. I guess my concerns I want to add something that will stress up the casual room somewhat and not sure what style or colors would do that.

If you use leather, just get an ottoman in white or beige/cream in leather. Or for those who are vegan like me, or prefer not to use leather, there is faux leather - like the first option I posted for you. Simple.

Colleen, don't put anymore money into your living room. The upholstery on a new sectional or sofa and chairs, may not work well with an ottoman you are considering now. I would just make do with what you have for now. Maybe just change out the accessories, or buy something light in accessories for the top of the ottoman to get you through till next year.

Ok, I am not sure if the one above is leather, although it was promoted that way on a site. But it says that it is tear resistant and stain resistant and one reviewer has used Scotch Guard on it with good results. You can read the reviews. But the idea is just get something with a sturdy fabrication maybe along the lines of this one or get leather or faux leather.

Btw, you can get a slip cover made for your current ottoman or get a piece of fabric and do a DIY slip cover, upholstery job on it. You can basically just wrap some fabric around it. That is the beauty of an ottoman coffee table; It is fairly easy to change up the look. And use a fabric that is washable. That way you just wash it, and don't have to worry about it. You could even use a fabric painters' drop cloth for this purpose. The drop cloths are sturdy and would give you the look of a light colored linen. You just wash them a few times to soften them up.

You can also just buy a ready made slip cover for your ottoman. Here's a link with a bunch of them:
