Possition wise I think where it is is as good as it'll get, maybe you could use a corner sink to free up the space. If you want a toilet with less depth you could use a high level cistern toilet which could also make the toilet a feature of the room. Also you want some built in storage, just because it is the size of a cubby hole doesn't mean it has to be a cubby hole full of stuff.

Position of anything is irrelevant if clutter is going to be replaced. No need for anything on the floor - and certainly replace the position of the towel - if the loo seat is permanently left up (why???), germs are rife. No need for a pedal bin, nor the baskets.

You can get a short projection loo, which (as the name suggests) has a smaller footprint and would give a little bit more space.

You could also have a concealed cistern with a short projection Loo which gives a shelf for accessories and will hide the pipes. Maybe the sink could be moved to the other side with a mirror to make it feel wider

You can probably find a cloakroom sink with a towel rail too

i also meant to say there appears to be a good selection of short projection loos on the market but I had a tricky ensuite to do 18 months or so ago and found the plumber could find impossible to find things (and I search for things on the internet constantly 😂) at plumbers merchants. I think it would also make the room feel bigger if there isn’t so much contrast with the floor (and depending on whether you keep the skirting boards or not but I wouldn’t opt for white if you do as it makes the room feel smaller with the stark contrast)

my plumber is a bit funny about doing hidden cistern but could definitely look for short protection. I will be ripping out absolutely everything as I need to put in a new sub floor because I want to add insulation boards on the ground as the floors are suspended. Was thinking of painting walls with washable paint for simplicity really and then a nice tile for the floor. although j love the wood panelling!

I have a similar sized loo and chose a back to the wall toilet which hides all the pipes and look neat, and a very small and slim vanity unit to put cleaning stuff and loo roll in so there is nothing on the floor. Boxed in the pipes, got a nice mirror and put up fancy wallpaper - the advantage of a small room being I only needed one roll.

I didn't initially think the toilet sink combo would be a good idea as you have to lean over the toilet, but having used my friends one, I found it quite easy to reach without touching the toilet.

In your case you have a much wider space either side of the toilet so plenty of room to get close.

No radiator or heating as it’s an internal room so no windows.
