Help with bathroom interior design!

Hi all,

I'm redoing my ensuite bathroom space and really struggling with the wall tiles, desperately need some help.

As you can see I'm going for matt black fixtures, the floor tiles will be a light concrete style and in the shower I'll be having white herringbone tiles with white grout to keep it light as no natural light.

I'm just really stuck on what to do for the wall tiles in the rest of the bathroom as I'm doing half tiling. All just regular white tiles seem to look like public bathroom tiles! Any advice? The shower tiles I feel are too small (250mm x 50mm) to do around the half walls without it looking 'busy'?

There is a slightly larger one I've seen at 300mm x 75mm (countrywide white from porcelin superstore) but my tiler has advised that still might look too busy depending on what format I do it in?

HELP!

I agree that it might begin to look too busy so I’d go for a plain white tile, in a large format. Porcelains do a beautiful Matt tile which is about 600 x 300 in size. Would look luxe but paired back.

Hello Yan, wanted to show you an idea of colour scheme for your bathroom. I decided to keep up with your layout idea and I noticed you like grey and wood in interior. In addition, SA contemporary style isn't much about colours but more about textures to keep interior simple and rich. In general, interior is neutral with couple of small colour accents, which can be easily updated or changed in time. There is no drama that sink in front of window! Moreover it gives fantastic advantages to use natural light. You can hang oval mirror at the window frame. In the evening hours, you can use illumination from wall light above window. Flooring is grey brushed concrete tiles with soft matt texture. Wood like porcelain tiles use for walls from the left and right, including curves. That's how you unite broken wall on a left and make it longer and identical. Tiles for walls around window and the opposite side ( including all curves and around door) should be the same - light grey with stone like texture. Grey tone on walls is lighter than on a floor. Hi You need to check re soil pipe - my opinion is that it is best to keep the WC as close to the soil pipe as possible to avoid unnecessary problems. Hi Leanne, I think it's a great idea to combine two small ensuites and make a larger more luxurious bathroom, particualrly if it's for occassional use. One suggestion, if you're looking for the 'wow' factor and are installing a slipper bath, I would make that the focus and position it in front of your sliding doors so that you see that from your landing (and not the loo!) It would mean moving the toilet (and wash basin) to the wall where you have the bath currently so might require a little more plumbing to get the waste to the exterior wall but a qualified plumber will be able to manage that. In terms of decor, have you consider acrylic shower panels? For a large walk-in shower it could look quite impressive? There are varioous finishes and colours and it gives a seemless smooth finish which looks very spa-like. Best regards, Jo, Room4 Interiors

If you try to match the white with another tile from another supplier or match the grey it could clash. As mentioned Porcelanosa do lots of tiles and different sizes/textures in the same colours, it may be worth a look. Have you bought the floor tiles yet and do you have a large tile to see it in situ?

@Juliet Docherty Thanks! Only issue is that the budget wouldn't stretch to both the shower tiles and the wall tiles from Porcelanosa unfortunately. The floor tiles yet haven't been purchased, they're samples my contractor bought round...

You could try Tiles2go. They carry old stock of Porcelanosa tiles at discounted prices so you could pick up a bargain?

Hi Izzi!

I love the products you have chosen, right up my alley!

I'm not sure if our bathroom design tool can be of help, but it is free to use so it might be worth a go just to visualise how certain tiles may look against these types of products.

You would need to recreate your current space using the types of products pictured in your post, then simply change paint/tile combinations to get a feel of what would work within the space.

Hi Izzi,

Lovely selection of finishes you have there, rather than adding more tiles, I would opt for paint colour to finish the look, and bring more warmth into the space this beige 03 would be a great compliment: https://www.lickhome.com/paint/beige-03 it also has grey undertones which would tie back in with your design scheme.
