Need help with bedroom furniture placement. Can't decide where to place double bed with headboard and a work desk or bookshelves.

Hi,

In a bedroom, the bed should be in a commanding position which means you should be able to see who's coming in to the room. For that reason, you should place the bed on the wall opposite to the door and place your desk either on one side of the bed or under the window if there is enough space. Bookshelf can go on one side of the bed. Since it is a rectangular room, you might get a bit restricted with the space available.

When placing the bed with headboard onyo the wall opposite the door, you will have to squeeze through towards the wardrobe which I am not comfortable with. Hence the question here

Just a thought, what about putting the bed against the wall of the walk in wardrobe and you can still have your headboard, no need to change or move a radiator and the wife's side of the bed would be next to the wardrobe entrance. It's all a bit cramped by the looks of things and while you'll have your ensuite and your walkin wardrobe you'll still be walking into a box room. Another thought I had to to lose the bedside cabinets and increase the appearance of space would be in to have the bed side lights on the partition wall and the storage built into the stud wall with pull out shelves for those breakfast in bed moments and cups of tea. Change the door to open onto your landing as well!!! Good luck

Hello again, Yes, different dimmension of this wall allows for more layout options. 1 - Beds side by side with a shared bedside table, which might be a drawer unit if preffered, armchair with a reading lamp and two storage units nect to the door (this could be whatever you need or will need in the future) 2 - This layout gives a bit less storage space but gives much more play area in the middle, which might be more useful right now when they are still small. 3 - This idea is based on them being twins and maybe they just want to be next to ach other all the time? If so I've placed the beds together, with the whole top wall left for storage, plenty of space in the middle and two portable side tables to be used as bedside tables. thank you jonathan, i guess i was wondering about opening the wardrobe at the top of the picture with locker being in teh way then as you walk in, do you have anoter wardrobe, woudl that look un designlike - to walk into a wardrobe facing you.. or its ok? suppose thast where my query is coming freom re wardrobe placement thanks for your help

It might be worthwhile having a floorplan created showing the true size of the room and then you can look at what furniture will fit in the space correctly. Our Midi Living package provides this if you need help!

I can make a floor plan for you if you can provide the dimensions of the door, window and width and depth of the wardrobe. Please include the measurement of the walls next to the window and the door. Since you already have a double bed and the wardrobe, rest of the furniture can be worked around it.

Does the 5.2m include the wardrobe?

And if it's a double bed that needs to go in, the only way is lengthwise against the wall, as 2.3 sure is tight.

Imagine the shelves being a frame, mounted to ceiling as well for safety/sturdy reasons, then a headboard attached to it, some bedlights etc.
