Don't whatever you do use 'kitchen' paint, it has got to be the ugliest texture and looks awful on your walls! If the combined areas are likely to have a lot of traffic, may I suggest using Dulux Diamond Matt in the colour of your choice. It looks lovely and is nearly indestructible- can be washed quite hard and doesn't come off and there isn't a sickly sheen like other washable paints. Too much grey could make your rooms a bit dull and lifeless - try some bright colours on a feature wall or some lovely wallpaper - the days of worrying about the odd splash are long behind us - they even make waterproof laminate flooring now and the selection of colours and textures are amazing!! I was going to have engineered wood, then bamboo, but I've settled on a really high quality laminate in a hessian look. Can't wait until it's all finished - so much planning and the end seems forever away. GOOD LUCK with your project, I would love to see how it ends.

Here are some colour ideas that i feel that will go well with your ideas Kitchen area: Paint Guide: Dulux :grey steel 3 or 4 Farrow & Ball :Lamp room grey Pavilion grey if you do decide on any of the F&B range of colour make sure you the get the right base coat paint for the right colour, it brings out the right tone in the colour you want Tile help: Bright purple or mustard/gold splash back instead of getting tiles splash backs in kitchens areas does make the kitchen look very modern easy to maintain, very hygienic and they do come in different colours to go with the decor and could work out to be cheaper then getting tiles Living room: Paint guide: Blue : F&B :Blue grey FLAT MATT ( this colour looks more blue then grey) Dulux: liberty blue 6 (can look good with grey floor) Stone : F&B: Skimming stone Elephants breath

Hi. You have obviously got lots of experience and looking at your other projects they look well executed. I agree with comments about the tiles. What you have done is created confusion by using very graphic pattern tiles along with flower design tiles. These do not work well together. The yellow and blue theme could work, also brown and orange/yellow but in a bit of a retro 1960's wallpaper way. It looks as if you have wanted to do an eclectic mix but then your desire for order has made you create a pattern of the different styles. Either do a repetitive pattern or mix them up randomly and keep the two styles separate.

Love a white ceiling, but be wary of using very dark colours in a hall/stairs as they can seem even darker if the light is poor, although you have got a window. I painted mine Pigeon by Farrow & Ball but it looks much, much darker as I have little natural light and I just don’t like it.
