I have a cottage garden style in my front and it is hard work.
It looks lovely for a couple of weeks then it goes unruly, smothers everything, overhangs neighbours and starts to look untidy.
I am changing this to make a lot neater.
I wonder if it is the same for wildflower area and whether they are mostly maintenance free or not. Season maybe longer and less work maybe needed than what I have so it will be interesting to see what others say.
The charm of a wildflower area is of course they look wild so neatness may not be an issue and they can look beautiful.
I understand they take approx 2 years to establish too though so bear in mind it may not be an instant look.

We’ve created a wildflower area on a slope in our north east facing garden this summer. We were astonished by how well it has grown - lots of lovely flowers, loads of colour (we are definitely NOT green fingered)! However we sowed a special wildflower seed mix on new, bare topsoil at the same time as grass seed went down so we think it probably established quickly because the flower seeds weren’t fighting with established grass. So worth rotavating or whatever before you sow. I don’t yet know how messy it’s going to look once the flowers have gone. I think we’ll mow at that point. We have already mown a very specific, sharp line around the edge of the area so that it looks intentional rather than unkempt…. I think there can be a fine line with wild areas. Not sure I’d do it in a front garden. Also our NE facing garden gets sun until early afternoon. Not sure how many hours of sun you need but think you can get specific seed mixes for shadier areas.
