Ah yes I see E D. Mairead, a lot of people create shower nooks/shelves for showering bits and bobs like shower gel and shampoo etc. Then maybe a shelf for the towels just outside the cubicle? The ladders look nice but they look a bit difficult to keep clean (I can’t bear dust traps!) so I’m not sure. Here’s some alternative ideas

The way these trays work is they slope down (slightly) towards the drain. So all the water flows towards the drain. If your drain is placed close to the wall (as is usual) then if the drain doesn’t quite catch all the water, it doesn’t matter, as the excess water will bounce off the wall and head back towards the drain. If your drain is at the open end, the water will be flowing towards the open end (as the slope will go that way) and there is nothing to stop any excess water that the drain doesn’t catch flowing out. You are relying on the drain to catch it all. We have a walk in shower and there is no flooding, But we have the drain at the wall end not the open end. I have never seen one with the drain at the open end and I imagine this is because of the flooding risk,

Hi I am seeking advice with the layout in a shower room. My main bugbear is the step up to the shower and the size of the shower. I would like to remove the step and accommodate a larger shower. Option 1- A 1700 shower low profile tray with 1400 glass screen and walk in opening. Option 2 - A 1400 low profile shower tray with sliding doors. This would leave a space of 300 between the shower and wall where the radiator is. It’s been suggested to me that this is wasted space. The toilet will be wall hung short projection. Colour scheme neutral/ stone/pale grey.Black towel radiator. My questions are 1 what are pros and cons of each option? 2 Is it ok to have the towel radiator within the shower area.? 3 Will the current layout of vanity unit / shelving make the room look too crowded? 4 Would a wall hung vanity/ basin work with floating shelves either side. Shelves are 26cm deep and counter top 32 cm. I am struggling to find a unit I like to fit. I don’t like the compact units where the tap is on the side. 5 Tile the whole room or just the shower area? 6 use same tiles wall and flooring? Any input/ suggestions would be gratefully received. I think your ideas are straightforward and realistic. If you can go without the extra storage, I'd say go for it! If needed, a shelf over the door can be used for dry towels and a basket for smaller items. Make ventilation a priority, from personal experience I can advise a 'residential fan' as they can pull the air (and moist) from multiple bathrooms/toilet simultaneously and are very silent (ours in on the attic).
