Thank you both for your advice, but to complicate matters we are going to be running the flooring lengthways down the room so that there is a seamless join from the flooring we are installing on the landing as we don't want floor bars joining the room thresholds

What's on top of the 224cm room? Just a flat roof? How old is your house? As 186cm doors would be a no go. My advice would be the hard one: Take out the floors and insulate the flat roof externally*. If you don't want to take out the floor, take off the entire flat roof and add some wall height (or is it terraced?). This would also mean enlarging your doorframes, which would probably need to meet up to building code (if the house is not listed) as you're renewing them. And don't forget heating and electrical pipes.. I don't have a clue what either of these options would cost, I'd say get quotes first. Hello, It sounds like you have some great and really exciting ideas to make your home an even better fit for your family. An open plan kitchen dining room would be a great way of boosting family space and allowing the layout to feel more open and spacious. Bi fold doors looking out to the garden would be a great way of boosting light in the space - you could look at having the kitchen/dining room in the reception room looking out into the garden. Have any of your neighbours successfully had an extension? From the plan you do have space to play with, without having to extend. It may just involve making a few internal alterations and looking at what you currently have that does work and what doesn't work. There's lots of ways to maximise kitchen storage, from having drawers that you can stack fully meaning no wasted space, to tall wall units and pantry units that are specifically a food cupboard. Hello, Can you help me understand the German AgBB VOC emissions for LVT floors? The product I'm considering says its <0.5mg/m3. However, I can't seem to find how this translates to Very low, low, adequate, high or similar. I see that the French version has A+, A, etc which makes it easier, but if you have any insight would be great. I've already contacted the company and asked them but they are taking some time to respond. Many thanks
