I think you'll come down to two choices. Do you want the roof lantern more than the suspended lighting, or the other way around. As you say, you can't have the suspended lighting with a roof lantern. Opening lanterns are tricky and expensive IME. If you want it opening I’d pick a skylight - but make sure it’s frameless from the inside, that’s a very contemporary look. I don’t understand why a lantern would let in more light, assuming the hole in the roof is the same size either way.
