Need help with paint colours

I am going to paint my bedroom this shade of peach, I was thinking of just painting one wall this colour, since I feel as though it would be too much if I painted 3 walls with this colour. For the other 2 walls I was thinking a soft beige or cream with either grey or chocolate coloured curtains. What colours will compliment this shade of peach? :)

    Love that peach! I would consider painting the ceiling a silvery gray in a semi-gloss. I'm loving the C2 grays and the new Color Stories by Benjamin Moore grays. With that kind of color on the walls and black accents, you could end up really reducing the impact if the ceiling is white.

    Enjoy - and as a rule of thumb, always select a color that is a step or two more muted than you want the overall effect to be. Sometimes our language center in our brain can get in the way of really seeing the color - so the more you are thinking "peach" the more you may end up with "orange" rather than a soft blushing color that is so feminine and beautiful.

    Also - soften the black a bit to a deep charcoal. It will make it look just every so mildly faded, which is lovely with old black and white photography.

      In my last house I painted one wall in the bedroom a soft yellow and the rest white it was a great focal point for the bed. I say do it- after all it is only paint and if you hate it repaint it.

      Hi Kirsty. I think beige and chocolate are the way to go. I've put them together here -- the colours show well and work together on my screen, I just hope they will when I attach it.

      Light colours always help to make a garden pretty so maybe try a pastel colour. I'm personally in love with a sort of light mint colour, this works really well with white (but any pastel will) cornflour is nice too for gardens as it is more of a contrast to the leaves. Growing a climber up some trellis on the wall might be an idea too, honeysuckle smells very sweet and attracts butterflies but any climber again will work. I have attached the mint colour I meant just for clarity, a word of caution would be that it can look a little clinical so to be used in moderation.

      I would consider a wallpaper on the fireplace wall with a large mirror above the mantle to balance the fireplace - I don't think the photo canvas is working where it is...if you're against wallpaper then consider some freestanding shelving units - perhaps with cupboards at the bottom for additional storage and use them to display books/treasures/lamp etc - you could even buy inexpensive ones from Ikea and then paint with chalk paints (goes on anything) and top coat with Farrow and Ball interior eggshell to make it wipeable.

      Liz, given the amount of natural light in that interior I would say Downpipe, but it wouldn't look like that in a darker interior. Little Greene Grey Teal 226 or Scree 227 look similar. I don't believe you can accurately colour match digitally, paints behave differently in different lighting conditions.

      Thank you so much Rina, those colours work very well :D one of the walls has black and white Marylin Monroe wall paper on it, this is my feature wall, do you think that colour scheme would still work even if black and white was added to it?

      If it's your style, though, you could consider patterned curtains using chocolate and one or both of the other colours. Solid dark curtains should look wonderfully dramatic, but they might be a bit heavy and gloomy, depending on the size of them and of the room.

      Yes, the dark curtains might look too dark, I could always go with a lighter shade of brown, like mocha or something, in super excited to get all this painting done, I just hope all the colours compliment each other I'm some way. I'm living that peach, cream/beige, brown colour scheme :), just hope this all ties in with that black and white wall paper. Time will tell :)

      Will the Monroe wall abut on the peach wall, or only on the others?

      Hmmm. I don't think the chocolate curtain will work with the black & white wall. First pic below, mid-grey curtain. Second pic, charcoal walls, silver curtain. Do you want to go that far? (Back later.)

      Sherwin Williams sees these shades, but there is some influence from the background you placed your chip on. You might pick up the color strip card for Anonymous and Knitting Needles to see if anything on them appeals to you. Personally, I think I'd try Anonymous which, on my monitor, has a bit of olive green undertone, but would also echo the mm black and white with some gray. You could use the KN one on the ceiling and white trim. Any shades can also be lightened and cut back with some white at the paint store. Looks like a bit of chocolate is here too with the Fiery Brown. Remember, these are just suggestions for a direction to go. If you posted your pic with the sample on a white background, we might get a different "read" on the peach/coral.

      Rina, I love the first one, I still like the peach with the beige, silver/ grey curtains would look nice too :D I'm teaming all this in with either black or light oak bed room furniture. Decorating is so fun :)

      Oxen, well my bed is black leather, so my bedding would most likely be either a nice cream bed set or a grey one :) with a beige throw over it

      Nice breakdown, decoenthusiast. Anonymous is gorgeous, depending on how it would read next to the b/w photographs of Marilyn. As you know, a million blacks, a trillion greys. Kirsty, two things: first, I'm a bit uncomfortable with the idea of two accent walls in one bedroom. Second, are you married to the peach? Still thinking ...

      Well I've already purchased the peach paint because I wanted my bed room to be a nice pleasant colour, it used to be dark colours so now I just want a change. That's why I'm going for peach and creams. I was originally going to paint 3 walls peach and have the Marylin Monroe wall paper as my feature wall, but I was having second thought because I didn't want it to be "too" peach because that might drown my room out if that make sense.

      I think you could do 3 walls of peach IF the peach color was not too deep of a peach color. You may have to add white to your choice of peach paint to lighten it. You can test it on a small part of the wall to see how you like it & keep painting over it if needed to get the right peachy color. Your window treatments could have the cream, darker peach, and gray or beige in them. Your bedding also should tie in with these colors.

      Peach is difficult to work with. I would do the dark cream walls. Then use peach and gray in bedding and panels on windows.

      I can't take the peach paint back unfortunately ): I'm thinking across from the Marylin Monroe wall paper I would paint the wall across from this peach, and then the 2 other walls beige, along with grey curtains? Unfortunately the paint was made up for me and non refundable ):

      If you are stuck with paint. Paint behind bed, the peach. Then other walls a dove gray, to play off black and white wallpaper. Black velvet. panels on ends of windows. Accessories in a glam black with crystals, like lamps, do you have a pl for chandelier?to bring in the Hollywood glam of Marilyn.

      Well the Marylin Monroe wall paper is already on the wall behind my bed, I only have 3 other walls left to paint. I was going to go all peach, but im open to grey tones as well :)

      Oh, then paint whole room the peach. And go black and silver accessories. Like satin bedding and black velvet panels with sheers. I usually never say sheers but this rooms may cry for them on windows.

      HI -- The Marilyn wallpaper will be the feature wall -- only one feature wall -not two in a room . Either use the peach paint on all the other walls or ditch it and maybe use it some where else. I think it will look fine with the paper if you add lots of soft creamy white such as drapes and bedding . Then have some very dark almost black chocolate as accents and in some of the furniture. Try not to have so many colors in the room , it will just start to look muddled and small . Maybe you could sell the peach paint . One bucket of paint isn't that expensive to opt out for another color .

      The colours aren't really registering very well (basic software), but here are the options with the beige walls, and the grey walls. I've added the black of your bed because it is going to be an important colour note in the room. I think I incline to the beige. Evening draws in where I am. I hope you get what you want today.

      Thanks for all your help :) you have all given me so many amazing ideas, I won't muddle my room with so many colours, if I stuck with the peach and the black and white Marylin Monroe wall paper I would work soft creams and greys into my room without it looking too peachy.

      Since you have the paint, paint some (3'x:3' size approx) on the wall not far from the Monroe paper. Live with it for a few days to see what you think. The lighting in a room makes a huge difference when working with paint color. Remember... the nice thing about paint is that you can always paint over it.
      If you don't want to paint the wall, pick up a piece of drywall (scraps from someone building a house, for example). You might ask the building supply stores like Home Depot if they have small sizes leftover from s job). Paint the peach color on this & set it against the wall to live with it for awhile.

      I agree with oxen you need to throw up some paint to get a feel for it. Since the lighting in a room can change the color of the paint put all 3 colors on each wall and wait a week and you will have your answer.

      But also do not be afraid to be bold and do more than one wall in the peach if it feels right.
