Perhaps slate tops and center? That would get rid of the wooden tops, give you a nice matching hearth and not change it all too much

Recently installed a new stove - we removed an ugly 80s tiled open fire and installed a stove. It’s a small opening on a small breast so there aren’t any store bought fireplace surrounds that seem to suit.

Once you know your interior style then you can make the fireplace and fire really stand out with the correct colours and finishes to complement your style of living.
