Layout of furniture for the main bedroom would depend on weather you’d prefer to have the bed facing towards the window. I’d personally put the wardrobe near the en suite bathroom so that you can more easily access your clothes after washing.

Thanks @Creative Abodes - I think the bed facing direct to the window could be a challenge. I envisage the bed head on either the right or left hand side wall. Left would mean you walk into towards the head of the bed, but you could then utilise the corner between en-suite wall and right wall for corner storage.

If your window has a good view be creative and place the bed  directly in front of it with a dressing area behind .

Could you look at rotating the bathroom 90 degrees to make the entrance less tight with the two doors?

I think i would have the bed on the right wall in both plans, tv over drawers/dressing table on the left wall, wardrobes on the bathroom walls.

Would you also consider an ensuite for the guest room?

This is a neat idea @katlucy - I am going to play around with this idea on FloorPlanner and I'll see what I get to and share back :) We're going to avoid en-suite in guest room, spend the money elsewhere. So we can actually pinch a little more space from that room for out en-suite if req'd, as it is quite a big room.

I’m working in feet and inches if that helps, one small square = 1 foot sq roughly 30cm sq

king beds and 3 and 4 feet wide wardrobes

How about moving the entrance to the en-suite to the middle of the horizontal wall and flank it with built in wardrobes so you pass through the wardrobe area to get to the ensuite

Thanks @Jonathan, the idea of having the angled wall does appear to open up the room. Though we may avoid placing a wardrobe behind the door, there should be good room for 2 x 1500mm and a dresser (with some drawers) in the middle.

@chloeloves I did play around with that idea, see my Design 5 - the fear is we'd still need another place for a wardrobe as with a doorway between we'd lose 900mm.

@katlucy - bed on right wall is the strongest position.

This is what I've landed with in term of options, think 1 & 2 are the best options.

Personally I don’t mind a wardrobe behind a door and would rather that than having the side of a wardrobe in your eyeline as you enter.

Separately I think you visually appraise the size of a room by how far it is from the door to the headboard. For this reason I prefer the bed on the outside wall of your bedroom- I think the room will then look bigger.

Re eyeline as you enter, is there a concern re how far the doorway could open with a wardrobe behind the door? Do you think moving the doorway open hinges to the right hand side, rather than left would be sensible?

Having drawn the Ensuite at 2.1 m I think there is enough room to move the bedroom door and not have to worry about the wardrobes being in your eyeline.

I will need to check if we can make this work with the 'angled' en-suite as per your initial layout option (number 2 in mine) as we actually prefer this suggestion.

@Jonathan, we decided to go with your suggestion, the 45 angled wall really opens the room. Do you think it's practical to have the two bedroom doors opposite, or should we offset.

Essentially just trying to now establish the door position and config of the two bedroom doors, i.e. have as below, or opposite one another?
