Kitchen design help!

Hey folks,

We're looking for some help with our kitchen layout. We've planned out a rough idea with DIY kitchens but this is honestly the first time either of us have done something like this so we're hoping for a sense check from people with more experience! We really love open plan kitchens where we can cook and host friends. We aren't settled on the wall cabinets and lighting. Does anyone with a more experienced eye have any advice for a couple of first time kitchen-designers for their first home?

Thanks!

This layout means you have essentially 1 open plan space downstairs assuming this is the full footprint. I would have the front reception closed from the kitchen and use this wall space to reimagine your kitchen and have entry to reception from hall only. I would consider putting the dining area where current kitchen is and break the window to have full length if possible where your sink is. Island and full kitchen with a seating area toward door overlooking the back garden.

Drawers instead of cupboards in islands for plates and pots. Hidden cutlery tray. Corner pull out unit or you lose a corner. Downdrafter over hob leaves the ceiling free for more impact lighting. Stainless steel sink, not the prettiest but undermount it you won’t see it. Just did our kitchen so it’s fresh in my mind. Not quite finished but close. 😃 Homebase House Beautiful range. Great quality.
