Hi there! Extractor hoods like the one you have mentioned can be used as the feature of the kitchen as they stand out so much. There is no right or wrong but in my opinion if you are using the shaker style doors I would recommend a built in extractor (they can also be ducted or recirculating). This way your kitchen units will be the design feature and the add on elements would only complement this. Please see below an example of a built in extractor. The doors can be side hinged and you can benefit from the internal storage by adding an extra shelve (cut to size on site) on the wall unit. Hope this helps. Has anyone any experience of this hood? We bought this because it was the only one with a sufficient airflow rate for our open plan kitchen and living room. We are yet to install it but am interested in knowing how people have found it.

looking at your image, I can't see why not. It matches your appliances and white worktop, Perhaps add white glass splash back or white tiled walls?

I love your idea. Please don't be swayed into having a huge deep extractor. Your image is stunning. It is so subtle you don't even realise that it is an extractor. I agree about not having it so close when you are cooking. I would say if you use all the zones all the time then you might find it's not powerful enough but most people only use a couple so it should be fine. For me design always trumps practicality. Each to their own. If you cook with lids on pots then you don't always need to use it either.
