How do you feel about robot vacuum cleaners?
Comments (36)@LTS I picked up a Neato Botvac D7 Connected on Amazon's black Friday sale for £399 the other day. It's gone back up to £699 for now but keep an eye on it as in most youtube reviews I've seen it stomps all over the Roomba 980. It's also D shaped so it handles edges much better than round robots, and you can create no-go zones via the app which is great for areas with wires and obstacles it may get stuck on.. Another robot I've heard is good is the Xiaomi Roborock S50, plenty of online reviews for that as well, and it also mops as well as hoovers. It's Chinese made but they do a European version, you'd just need to attach a UK plug or buy a UK plug adapter for it. You can get the S50 for £385 on Amazon. If you don't want to overpay for a Roomba then consider one of those models; only thing that put me off about the Roborock was aftersales if something was to break; Neato are a little more established. There are comparison videos galore out there so take a look before committing your funds!...See MoreWhich hob type is your favourite?
Comments (34)Induction? No No No No No No. I don't know how many times I need to say it but please don't choose induction. It uses electro-magnetisation to heat food. I have a 21 year old daughter who has had a pacemaker since she was 4 years old. Magnets stop pacemakers. My daughter cannot live without her pacemaker and I'm sure there are many older people in the same boat. Induction hobs are not safe, they are potentially deadly. I can see the benefits of induction but manufacturers need to bring out more 'mixed' hobs (2 induction, 2 normal) to allow all the members of the family to use them. Just because it might not be relevant now, can you predict the future? What if one of your parents came round to babysit and needed to use the hob? We need to get the message out there. More and more people every year are fitted with medical devices that are affected by magnetic pulses but there doesn't seem to be any recognition from manufacturers. An induction hob could KILL my daughter, what could it do to your family member?...See MorePlease Help needed with curtain length & curtain type
Comments (8)I tend to prefer long curtains personally as well but if you think that brushing past them would annoy you then I’d go for short. Roman blinds could be an option as well if they will tuck under the pelmet, I do feel that you’d need a double layer approach with perhaps a roller blind in the window to block out the light tho. You could always ask the curtain maker to include curtain weights in the bottom. This would help to make the fabric hang a lot straighter. Of course this does depend on what type of fabric you choose. A thick woven wool or chenille for example (something you might use for cushions or upholstery) will have a lot more bulk and stick out more. Synthetic materials such as nylon and polyester tend to drape better because of the smooth weave. Here’s some advice on choosing fabrics https://www.themillshop.co.uk/blog/which-is-the-best-fabric-for-curtains A plain simple pelmet would look best I think even if it’s curtains or Roman blinds....See MoreBuilt-in oven and hob type recommendations. Comments (39)my thinking was the table could be pushed flush with the island the majority of the time leaving a gap to walk past of approx 140cm. Thats with a 110cm gap between island and units, 90cm island and 90cm table. Or if you rotate the table and have it pushed with one end against the island, a 120cm table would sit 4 and leave 110cm to pass which is the same as the gap between island and units. If it was an extending table it can be rotated 90 degrees on the rare occasion more seating is required. Yes, it would mean it would probably close off that side of the room but if it's not a daily occurance? Some compromises will have to be made if you really want to fit everything in that space unfortunately....See More- last year
