What love some ideais on adding a kitchen insulation without changing the layout as we are trying to keep cost down and on a budget. Photos attached.

I used FB modern emulsion Elephants Breath and just white tile paint a one coat one from Homebase. I know I haven't used the right paint for the shelves but it's been on 4 weeks and still looks great. Here's a couple more photos of the rest of the house completed on a shoe string.

I think the room is nice. I'd look at something like this to work with the carpet and furniture (or hopefully!). Excuse the awful photoshop especially the giant stem on the left which I couldn't shrink and the shades are the wrong shape :) You could swap the juju hat for art, I just added it as hard to choose art for someone! I agree re the chest, if it can't be moved, can you widen the pole at all to leave a slight gap between the chest and curtains although it's hard to see exactly where the window frame is? I also agree with a warmer colour for the walls (and door and rad). I'd also try hanging the mirror as portrait and adding a 3rd frame to the other collection and maybe space them a bit so they're not touching? Could you also move the chair to another corner to add a palm as I think some greenery will really break it up?

As you have slab front doors, you might want to look at DIY vinyl wraps to update the cabinetry. For the boiler wall, I would take out the existing boxing and counters and start fresh. Design it to fit whatever you want/need. It does not need to match the other cabinetry…. It could be white, sage green, grey, etc. I have successfully put a 60cm wide IKEA upper cupboard around a boiler. The fitter simply left off the backing, and cut holes in the top and bottom for the pipes. As it matches the other uppers, you’d never know it’s a boiler cupboard. You could also update the floor inexpensively with sheet vinyl, or (whisper it) even sticky back tiles. I have used the latter twice now to “temporarily” cover horrible floors and they made a huge difference to how I felt about the space.

i think I would start with replacing the floor. Those wavy edged tiles are going to clash with a new sleek kitchen. You have a choice to do it all or just paint the doors, get a new range cooker, replace that massive extractor with something smaller and sleeker. I'm pretty sure the doors are solid wood not wood effect. The style is very ornate and quite cottagey and modern won't sit comfortably alongside it. I would rather get rid of all the tiling and buy a modern kitchen and appliances if thats what you truly want. I would also consider your motivation. Are you happy with the layout and how long do you intend to live in it? You should answer these questions before spending a lot of money.

Sorry no, that would mean knocking down walls and etc and will overcapitalise in the future. I like the floor plan as is.

I would prefer to change the windows into a French door have a L shape kitchen and then can fit an island with a hob. I can also have tall units and i won't need to move the sink too far.

A full kitchen reno would be in 3 years and right now need a budget refresh kitchen makeover....

If you're looking to do a renovation in a few years, live with how it is for now.

I think even with the minimum clearance around an island you would end up with 1.4m worktop leaving you with little prep space if you want the hob on here…..maybe a peninsula island?

Thank you everyone. For now well paint the cabinets and change the handles, keep the work top. In 3 years time will look at a new kitchen. Thanks KatLucy, that is a good point will have to play around with the floor plan of the kitchen a bit more.
