We have installed encaustic tiles in our bathroom. We sealed them before laying, but the tiler used black grout, which I found out later, the tile maker said not to, after reading the installation notes. The black grout stained them, we tried everything to clean them, we ended up cleaning them, and rinsing off,one by one with acid. This method got them clean, but it made them a bit coarse, obviously took the top layer off. But my husband sanded them back, by hand with a fine paper. We then resealed them. They are now as good as they were when we started.
