Kitchen floor sets the space apart, but I think the way it breaks in the middle of the bar stool bases is not elegant. Not sure where the break should be, but I think the bar stools should be on same surface with all 4 legs.

Saved this photo to show how tiles can give the illusion of a rug without a rug. Maybe this is a good way to define our entryway. If the tiles are a simple stone-look porcelain, we could even cover it with a smaller rug to wipe feet.
