Reply to: Sorry for the long wait on a response. I have a steel fabricator make a t-shaped piece of metal that I secure to the studs before we start tiling. I usually draw it up for them. It's not something anyone has been familiar with so I always have to explain its purpose, but that seat isn't going any where in an earthquake or regular movement. It's as sturdy as t can be. If you really need help explaining it to someone, let me know and I'll send you a sketch.

Reply to: Ann, It is a 3cm St. Croix Limestone slab (similar to Crema Europa). The wall was reinforced behind the slab bench and custom steel supports were made to support the slab. The underside of the slab was cut to receive the steel supports.

Reply to: Hi, great question. The marble for the bench is supported by a steel frame (hidden under the bench) and bolted to metal framing in the wall. We also recommend trying to conceal shower drains under a bench and not under foot.
