Finally a picture to share. See my extended post above for more detail but notice the shower curb and center drain at the base of the tub. That is so the tub can be showered in with a curtain hanging on the outside OR the tub can be completely removed in the future leaving a huge shower stall. Note that the tub is only sitting inside the stall ( the faucet / hand shower are wall mounted and there is only a center floor drain. The tub overflow is not hooked up to any piping and the tub drain is routed to hang over the center floor drain using the original tub overflow / drain piping which has been turned in the opposite direction (thanks to our genius contractor for coming up with that trick).
