if there is enough pitch in the back, you can use the stones that mimic the front to build a small wall. When you top with flat slate like this, creates a sitting area too.

if you want to put down pavers like this, using stones may work better than trying to grow grass in between. Here in Florida, they use fake grass.

if you use smaller trees, placing a circle of filler plants around the bottom makes it prettier. The low plants are hostas, best for shade.
