Random thing I'd saved a while back to my "back yard" board. Might be fun to create some colorful lighting like this.

Another example. Again I don't like the pattern, but the idea.

Mix of traditional pergola with interesting shading. I don't like this pattern, more the idea.

Built-in walls and/or seating for pergola. One thing I liked about the sample pergola at Home Depot was that one side of it has a high wall like a bar.

Interesting pergola idea--creates spaces that can be covered for shade. Thought it was interesting that not all of them are covered. This is similar to the pergola by my office, but a more achievable design.

Small waterfall from retaining wall into pool

Don’t like so many cactus plants but I do like the use of a few large pots in the landscape for interest and as a sculptural component

Nothing I like about this but it reminds me that if we add retaining walls to keep them simple maybe concrete so we can mosaic them ourselves.

Love the grasses and mostly the lighting on the slope

Love the purple butterfly bush and apricot daylillies. Maybe add purple statice too and grasses?

Love the sculptures added

Pergola and waterfall feature as the focal point of a pool area. This is a little too fancy looking but is the general idea. Also when lighting and outdoor living room.

I like the gravel path in front the retaining wall

Would love to someday add some type of waterfall feature into the pool.

This is just to remind me that maybe some steps and a bench would be wonderful. Need lighting too!

Love the idea of water running down slope.. creek?

Would there be room for a bocce court?

Looks like grasses and possibly more drought tolerant plants with small pebble ground cover. Problem- dog likes to run on slope... would rocks get displaced?
