What about something like this for our kitchen?
I like having a wide counter space adjacent to the stove. Like all the cabinets, so much storage! We don't need such a big fridge. Do I really need double ovens?
I like the windows that wrap around the L shaped kitchen area. Could we have windows that wrap around from west to north like this? these look like Ikea cabinets to me.

Storage like this makes so much sense to me. Deep cabinets aren't practical.
Love the idea of a built in window seat and table combo. Love the windows surrounding the built in and the french doors. Finishes are simple and elegant.
Having the laundry off of the kitchen makes so much sense for our family. I can throw in a load of clothes easily without having to bring the girls down steep stairs to the unfinished basement to hang out for a minute. Leaving them alone upstairs while I throw a load in isn't a great idea. Leaving laundry until after they're asleep sounds horrible. I want to relax once they're asleep, not do laundry. I should be able to do laundry while I'm watching them play.
This is beautiful. It's not overdone. Not too much going on. The kitchen can settle in the background.
The color scheme. The windows over the sink. I think the layout of this kitchen is similar to what Jim wants to do in our kitchen space.
Easy access to spices & ingredients. Ingredients less likely to be forgotten in the back of a cabinet.
