RHM...yes, it’s all very stressful! I totally get it.
Here are the samples they put on my floor.
#1 is Medium Brown and #2 is Special Walnut. They had a bunch of others they put down on another part of the floor, but I immediately ruled them out....some were too golden others too dark or red etc. I don’t know what the other colors were though. I believe one was Jacobean (which was too dark) but I don’t know which one in the samples that was.
I did not want a dark floor, but I also don’t care for a very light brown color either (too dull). Similar to you, I didn’t want golden, red, or orange. That being said, colors that people see can be very subjective, but according to my taste, the Special Walnut did not have the negative colors I was trying to avoid. I’m very happy with it.
This pic is looking down on the floor (the island is in the top half of the photo). I would say, that my monitor is coloring things a bit more red than they actually are in person (very hard to pick colors online - impossible really). I found the special walnut and the medium brown to be very similar in color, but the special walnut was just a touch lighter (and actually the difference between them was not as noticeable as it is in this pic).
