“Uh-oh” moment: “The biggest challenge actually resulted from the oval window,” Paquin says. “The master bathroom has incredible views, and initially we had windows across the entire south elevation in order to capitalize on these views. The issue, however, was that this resulted in no room for the vanities, medicine cabinets and vanity lighting. We decided instead to incorporate an asymmetrical window detail on the exterior of the home by using the oval window instead of a bank of windows, which would have been symmetrical with the other half of the south elevation. “In the end, the whimsical window works on both the interior and the exterior. Once we decided on the oval window, we designed the vanities to be his-and-hers instead of one long vanity.
