The Safari Chair - THE DESIGNER Kaare Klint’s design influence has been far-reaching; he is often referred to as the father of modern Danish furniture design. Founding the School of Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he taught and mentored many of the stars of mid-century Scandinavian design. He believed furniture to be about the body not the room: it should serve a purpose as an instrument for the body, rather than dominating or merely decorating the room.

Display beneficial items on and around your table Filling a round bowl with shapely fruit is the way to go. In fact, the more food you can display on and around your table, the more richness of life you are inviting inside. Apples are said to foster friendship, pears give energy a boost, peaches promote health and oranges bring riches. TIP: By all means, display flowers on your table, but avoid dried flowers – they symbolise decay. Silk and paper flowers are fine, though

“When I hang photos myself, I use an easy trick,” Mughannam says. “I arrange the photos on a big sheet of kraft paper. When I have them as I want them, I trace them. I tape the paper to the wall with painter’s tape and use a nail to mark the spot where I want to place my hangers. I take the paper down and nail the hangers into the wall. It works great.”
