Flooring (You LOVE checkerboard so work with that feel or style (see - a version of the Laura Lakin modern tile that you like down below in the book) - I predict that you'll quickly be bored of this floor- do something that excites you and makes you smile every time you see it - this probably isn't it)
Use of multiple colors and similar materials create warmth/farmhouse appeal (love the look of this - from the post to material use- integrate a few key antique/vintage elements with a fresh new farmhouse feel - the look can be classic, fresh, timeless - also the muted brass hardware works in this combination)
This design could work if drywall remained at bay with a double instead of triple fixture.
Nice pantry if we design a flat position for cabinet.

Inspirational photo to think about original farmhouse type styling
Kind of interesting concept... could we float some open boxes above right/left of stove.
This has a very nice overall feel that is not to stuffy or too casual. I think it's a good fit for the house... especially, since I will refinish ceilings white/gray undertone and have a beam... However, I actually think a gloss finish on the ceiling could be interesting... it would bounce light and bring a cool element of class. I am looking at various paint options for a professional finish there as well right now.

I like the contrast of natural wood upon whites/grays and dark stone tops.
In this photo, I like how the wood was not so linear when staggered.
Here white on white shows well, but I think the dark grout is key. Very clean, very linear, but still nice.
love how they marry the wood from ceiling to base on cabinets. In this case, it was proper for the shelves to fade away to avoid "busy"("fade" by being white?)
Love the character here. See full image separately included in album.
again, wood on white/gray to create livable farmy feel.
wood on white again..
similar to my original layout, before moving stove... kinda. Not a fan of the shelf brackets.
clean shelf brackets. wood on white. I am not a fan of the honey wood.
wood on white. The honey shelves work better here somehow. Maybe it's the dark cabinets and iron that help.
wood on white, but too clean/modern
feels good with mixed materials; brick, reclaimed wood, marble.
We likely don't have room for cables... but interesting idea... in weathered zinc or iron.
Floors (really beautiful in muted 18 x 18 or 24 x24 contrasted stone)
