We used Benjamin Moore flat in the Aura line. I was able to negotiate it down to about $50 per gallon (we bought 70 gallons). We went with flat and it is better than eggshell, we can wipe it off just as easily as eggshell, even around the stove where grease splatters. The thing about it I like is, the color seems to be in the walls vs on the walls. We used BM Advanced satin for our trim and cabinets and it is holding up great.
Sorry, mimiwood, I will never buy Sherwin Williams...had a contractor paint the exterior of our home...lasted 2 years. He extolled the virtues of Sherwin Williams ("all contractors use it"). We watched diligently to ensure he removed peeling paint, did a good power-wash, etc. Still, the light-colored exterior paint didn't last.
So, we knuckled down, bought Behr, and repainted the entire exterior ourselves (including a 14' x 35' covered patio). It's been almost 10 years and it still looks great.
Conversely, after 20 years of using Behr on the INTERIOR of our home, we found weaker and weaker coverage, sloppy wet/drippy application, and less durability. We switched to Benjamin Moore, satin, for the living room, dining room, kitchen, ceilings, and hall. We used their Spa & Bath for the bathrooms. Huge difference! Great coverage, good thickness (although you have to watch textured walls as it doesn't get into the "dimples" easily), and it takes a vigorous scrubbing. When we get ready to do the bedrooms, we'll bite the proverbial bullet and get BM again - the price is definitely worth it.
