While eccentric, the gold tile really gives the bathroom depth and interest while the black-and-white color scheme lends a statelier approach,” Fee says. And using gold met the teen’s style wishes, while the rest of the color scheme and the marble met her mother’s. Storage. While storage was important, maintaining symmetry in such a tight space was also a consideration. Fee worked with Zebra Cabinets and used black Shaker-style cabinetry, which she customized, maximizing the inside of the drawers to meet her client’s needs. “Custom cabinets allowed for optimal storage, and when the vanity is closed it appears to have four equal drawers,” Fee explains. This hair-accessory drawer has built-in outlets in the bottom. The vanity is a comfort height of 36 inches, several inches taller than the old vanity. 7. Lay some honed limestone. A classic pale limestone is a beautiful look, giving a bathroom an impression of light and space. Real limestone also feels lovely underfoot when you’re getting out of the bath: smooth and not too cold. However, since limestone is porous, it needs to be carefully maintained and sealed to keep moisture from getting in. A porcelain or ceramic option in a similar hue could be an alternative if this is a concern. Check that the limestone you choose has a textured rather than an ultrasmooth finish to avoid slips and slides.

The wall sconces flanking the tall mirrors provide a warm, even light on your face, which is perfect for doing your hair and makeup. The star pendant light not only provides this master bath with warm light, it also acts as a chic design element to create a rustic-modern spa-like master bath.Pro tip: Hanging light fixtures are always great for making a big impact on your overall lighting strategy. Be sure to consider the ceiling height, as well as the overall height of the light fixture, and to double-check that there is plenty of room to walk under a fixture without bumping your head. Typically 7 feet to 8 feet from the floor to the bottom of the fixture is ideal.
After. The black-and-white ceramic tiles on the floor make a fun and fresh statement in the narrow space. Designer Susan Klimala of The Kitchen Studio of Glen Ellyn then added in more black, white and gray features to keep the palette calm and inviting. The most dramatic change comes at the end of the room, where Klimala replaced the brown tub with a sleek white tub and sliding glass door. Go around the bend. In this elegant space, curtains on a circular ceiling-mounted track screen an elegant dining area bordered by a curve of windows. Any other kind of system would have looked messy and clunky or wouldn’t have worked at all. Look for a flexible system or a bendable track that you can tailor to the dimensions and shape of your window. Think about whether you want to install it yourself or whether you would feel happier hiring a professional. Using a pro may be worth the extra cost if your window arrangement is complicated. Always double-check what’s possible and how much weight the track can support before buying.
