Reply to: And the best way to evaluate paint is not to paint swatches everywhere - it's to have large paint samples that are moveable that you put against a white paper to isolate the color against the areas you are considering it for. When you paint swatches directly on the wall - the new color interacts visually with the existing wall color and it effects how you see it. The samplize samples really only work well if put on a foam core moveable board. This way you can see the color with your carpet - which is the main thing you need to coordinate with.

Reply to: I had a decorator that I hired for limited assistance, mostly to help with colors as I know how hard it is to select. She was the one who suggested Winds Breath with Cloud White for the trim. We actually have regular ceiling white but in hindsight, I would consider the cloud white for the ceiling as well. But I don't think the ceilings make the trim look dingy nor yellow. It looks creamy. When there is a lot of light/sunlight, you almost can't tell that it is off white. It just gives an impression that the space is not sterile (I am not a "clean white" house person- i.e. I prefer lots of wood and warmth). Agree with the other posting about painting larger samples and look at it at different times of the day. The thing about paint that amazes me is how it looks very different in the light and how much you need to match the undertones of a color, even a neutral one. Hence, the few hours of a decorator's time was money well spent!

Reply to: I used Winds Breath on walls, similar concept with an open family room , entrance hall and up the stairs and Cloud White for the Wood trim. I really love it- a little darker than off white but very subtle and warm. Mine is a space with a lot of windows/light.

Reply to: Rhonda, Carrier Infinity systems like all communicating systems (nearly all US manufacturers make them to one degree or another) rely on a proprietary communicating signal between the thermostat, a zone system board (optional) the furnace control board & the control board of the outdoor condensing unit or in your case heat pump. Fault code 178 is a communication fault some where between each of the parts and pieces of your system above. This fault code is a broad based code that only tells the tech a clue as to where the problem may be. Usually this fault code is something simple but not always. Installation of shielded cable might be applied typically if no real fault can be found with the equipment itself. Intermittent type faults regardless what kind of fault it is, can be challenging to determine the culprit with so many different pieces of equipment all trying to communicate with one another. I've called this situation an "error code hell" if you will. If the fault code told the tech or HVAC contractor where the fault was specifically coming from? However the equipment doesn't do this. Others can argue how nice a system is... but one fraught with this kind of trouble --- well I know first hand this isn't fun. Not fun for you, not fun for me either. I've dealt with these kinds of problems with systems I didn't install personally. Many times more than I care to count is a guessing game of changing replacing parts due to intermittent failure. I am not ghost busters. If you reset the system and the system runs --- you're not going to find someone to camp at your house for a few days or more waiting for it to flat line out again. Context: If the communication error is a hard fault -- meaning if you attempt to reset the system and the code immediately triggers again... that situation is completely different from what I believe you are stating.
