Reply to: Kristine, Diana. Danby is advertised as being tougher than lots of marble types and I understand that it is. However, it will etch even if it has a penetrating sealer on it. Penetrating sealers will prevent staining if they are reapplied regularly. Unfortunately, sealers will not prevent acid etching and any calcium based stone such as marble, onyx, travertine will etch if lemons, water, etc. are allowed to touch the surface for any period of time. The only sealing product which will prevent acid etching is Clearstone. It is not a plastic film but a catalyzed polyester specifically designed for calcium based stones. It is applied by certified applicators so the job is done correctly and it comes with a 10 year warranty against staining and etching.
