Back room master design
Knock down current room and build new space. Not sure of exact dimensions, but roughly 30 feet by 15-18 feet. The 30-foot length faces the backyard. Will serve as kitchen & socializing area. Not entirely sure if I want an island or not. If so, there needs to be plenty of room to maneuver around it. And while the best view for a sink is definitely facing the backyard, I don't want dirty dishes to accumulate there, so unless we have two sinks (which isn't a bad idea), I want the sink more hidden on the east wall and leave the counter area that faces outdoors open and clean.
Or, I suppose it could be configured so it's really long on the one side and closed on the other. The remaining space could be where the door is and there could also be a window that can open/swing out but maybe no counter there. There could be a bench in that space instead to be used for bags, etc.
