Shell. Give a coastal style half-bath an elegant upgrade with an oversized shell sink basin. You can find an authentic one if you're willing to hunt, but be prepared for a hefty price tag. Composite reproductions can save money but won't look as genuine. Tip: If you do find an authentic shell, the edges can be sharp and dangerous. Ask your contractor or builder to carefully file them down so your sink is safe.
Consider a fold-up bench. If space is tight, this is a great solution. Fold it down when you need it, up when you don’t.

Decorative molding details. The simple addition of a piece of molding between the upper drawers and lower doors adds a level of detail you don't see on a standard stock cabinet. The molding and base molding transforms this into a furniture-style piece.

A double band of dark pencil liner sandwiches a white marble mosaic border along the top of this shower. My eye goes straight to that detail so I barely notice that the rest of the field tile is large format (and therefore less expensive). This bathroom looks like a million bucks due to the creative use of line and the contrast of light and dark stone. Tip: Mix sizes of the same field tile. Here the floor is a 4"x4", the bottom wall section is a 6"x12" and the upper wall field tile is a 3"x6", plus the mosaic border.

The counter shown here is made from glass that's been painted on the back side. Glass is a great counter material, and the thickness of glass used as a counter gives it a strength that's difficult for other surfaces to match. It's such an unexpected material for this use that it never fails to get a positive response.
