This is a custom elliptical wood sash that hides a standard skylight shaft. It was made by John Datlen of Marshall's Cabinets in Martinez, CA (925-229-4300). The chandelier is actually supported by a 1/4" threaded brass rod that's painted white - this also carries the electrical wiring to the fixture from an electrical box that's located up at the beam between the skylights on the roof. The glazing is a laminated slightly obscure seeded glass made by Bendheim. It obscures just enough to make the support rod invisible.
