I like the over deck covering that breaks up the light; I'm not sure this will work for us but I wanted to save it.

Here's an example of a deck I feel has just been bolted on the side of the house. It doesn't fit. It just seems uncomfortable.

I like the overhang over the door to the outdoor space. I also like the finished nature of the space with the railing.

I like this space quite a bit. I like the contrast of the dark decking against the white railing. I wonder how the white holds up over time. I'd probably avoid the built in seating.

I don't love the ornate railing on the back edge of the deck, but I do like this in terms of how finished it feels. I like the trellis as well, although I wonder if you could put panels on it to block rain? I especially like how the table and sitting locations aren't forced.

I don't mind some of the style here, but I can't help but question why have the middle section a step down? It breaks up your usable space.

Another detached covered living space. Again, this is probably more expensive than we're thinking but it's nice.
