Mom this is the kind of grayish soapstone I was talking about for your countertops (on the island in this photo) I feel like it would be nicely subtle against the dramatic marble backsplash

I like this inspiration - maybe a corner countertop where the kitchenette is with laundry machines under the counter/behind doors? Except the laundry machines might be too tall to fit under a counter, so maybe you would need to put them behind doors and just have shelving above, rather than a countertop. OOH since that space is small, would it be possible to make the doors sliding doors? Or would that make it too hard to transfer laundry from one machine to the other?

I like everything about this because it looks a lot like our kitchen, and the cabinets look like they would fit well within the rest of the house, not too modern
