General feel; w/out the heater and fireplace of course, but the beadboard slant and stronger support beams.
I see what your guy is saying - taking the current pitch and extending out will make this extension massive. So this probably too massive.
Earl- this pitch works as well. a couple feet under current a-pitch. Of course, piers and stronger 4x4 or 8x8 replace whats in pic.
General structure. Stone or concrete piers, a-frame; open. Bead board preferred, but not essential.
Decent look and feel.

This type of pitch works as well - if this is easier and less costlier.
