This is very similar to why we were talking about. To the right of the appliances is the stud wall that separates the kitchen and utility space.

Again very similar to our ideas, the extractor would be mounted in the back of the island behind the hob and lifts up 50mm when required, it will then drop back in to the recess when finished with.
