This is pretty cool. Ugly color or that could be the lighting. It could be painted? or wall tiled? Or what if that last (tallest, on left) space was just open? How wide and deep could it be? What if a small window went horizontally across the top near the ceiling so more light could come through from the above windows?
Maybe shelves could be inside? Neat how they scored the wall. Looks like it is open at the end/tallest point.
