Late to this thread, but chiming in to say I fell in love with leathered steel gray granite when we were looking at slabs during our kitchen remodel. I had my heart set on soapstone, but our designer and project manager encouraged me to consider other possibilities, so I had that mindset when we went to look at slabs. It was love at first sight! I can't keep my hands off it. I love the organic look and feel. It looks "of the earth" and doesn't have the reflective, sparkly quality I hate in polished granite. Nine months later, I love it as much as the day they installed it. I've not had any problems with staining or scratching, and I don't anticipate any. Here's a photo of our finished kitchen.
