Deep storage built in brick would get thermal mass and stabilise temperature - placed in the middle of the building where the temp was most stable would increase the value too.

I like the idea of continuing the line of cabinets along the wall with the perpendicular wall built to separate pantry from kitchen proper. the downside to external access for butler's pantry is the weather and light that would degrade dry goods too quickly. Better to have a light bright mudroom and internal pantry
